Ok had this little guy for about a month now. He started eating really good about 3 days after I got him. Then all of a sudden he just stopped eating cold turkey.

Tried flakes, brine, plankton, krill, seaweed.

He seems intrested in it when it hits the water then veers off away from it once he looks it over?
He's starting to look skinny, not sure why he ate great then just stopped. Ideas?

He might be feeling a little sick. Have you checked water parameters?

Have you tried other tempting foods like frozen mysis, bloodworms, or live brine?

not yet, I can try bloodworms tonight and the other two tomorrow. I've also been soaking the frozen food in garlic too.

Parameters should be fine, it's a fish only tank and I did a 10-15% change 2 days ago and the other 8 fish are eating great..

Try Mysis or ArticPods.. My old Flame never eat seaweed.. Isn't bloodworm for freshwater fish?? How big is your tank? Maybe the fish too scare to come out to eat. Any fish harassing it??

Normally, but some SW fish love it. When my Yellow tang got sick and stopped eating, the only thing he would eat was bloodworms. I figure, better something than nothing. He continued to love bloodworms after he got well, and I would give it to him and the other fish (who also liked it) as a treat once in a while. :)

I've never fed bloodworms myself but I've seen it fed to SW tanks and the fish have no problem at all eating them ;)

Yah they (BW) seem to have a knack for getting marine and freshwater fish feeding :)

You can also soak mysids in Oyster-Feast, many report that is a great way to get them going again :)

still not eating. Tested the water the PH was slightly low, so

1. I added some PH 8.2 slowing bringing it up to 8.0, was 7.8.

2. Added something for the angel to hide behind in case he was scared.

3. Freshwater dipped him yesterday to make sure he did not have any external issues.. IE Gill parasites.

He's acting normal, just not eating.

contemplating wheither or not I should put him back into my 40 gallon reef or do you think that would just make things worse and stress him out more?

But once I let him out of the isolation area it'll be hell to try to catch him again if I need too.

Well after trying every kind of frozen food under the sun. I went out and bought some live brine. Dropped it in and he pecked at it :) He ate a few small ones nothing major but it's a start! Still not sure why he stopped eating cold turkey but lets hope this guy is on the road to recovery. I hate seeing a fish in misery, fingers crossed.
