for all you fight fans out there, I should be fighting again in March! Nothing set in stone yet. I am still trying to update My California Athletic Commission license so I may compete. I got my license striped from me for a severe injury I suffered in a bout that I actually won about 2 years ago! For those of you that don't know, I have been training mma for almost 10 years now. I started with Chuck Liddell when I was wrestling for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. After severing my foot in a motorcycle crash(which left me in the hospital for a month in a half, 5 surgery's and no more pinky toe!) I took a 5 year leave from the sport. I started back up in 2005 and wanted to get very serious, so I moved to Thailand and spent a year training Muay Thai there. I came back and was so into Muay Thai that I stopped competing mma and focused on Muay Thai. Havn't lost in The States yet, knock on wood! As much as I love Muay Thai, it is much easier to make money competing in mma. When you step into the ring and risk severe injury it is better to make some good money while doing it!!! I was with Frank Shamrock for a while up until my injury. I actually did his 240gl wall tank and was able to train with him for free! Anyways back to the future. If I can not get ready for the bout in March(the athletic commision are tough dudes) I will Diffienetly be fighting in April! It will probably be in Fresno but not positive yet. I might have a shot at a bout at Strikeforce in San Jose, which would be sweet, closer to home and more people would be able to go! I will keep you guys updated on my progress with the athletic commision and the progress with my training, as well as when and where the bout will be at! I am aiming for the Strikeforce gig! Wish you all the best and I will keep you all informed! Come support your fellow reefer kick some tail!!!!!!

Wont be to much longer. I am 31 now, only a small window of opportunity in this sport! Hopefully it will be in San Jose so you guys can come out!!!! My gym is closed on Sundays but I went down there and opened it up about 10pm to let out a bunch of frustration over my tank, lol! Those poor heavy bags, lol!

Jeremy, you competed in martial arts before?

Wrestled my way into states two years in a row fighting in South East Pennsylvania, and trained Golden Gloves in the same area. I'm a little old now (36) and have a right shoulder that's seen over a hundred subluxations. I would have loved to fight MMA I always felt I was a little meaner than most of my opponents :), but when I was training MMA wasn't even a blip on the radar.

Nice! All my wrestling prior to college was in both of our hometowns of Modesto, lol! Got me a scholarship though! You are pretty active though, you still got a little window left. I know about the shoulder injuries. Separated my left one about 4 years ago and it still likes to pop out all the time and it does give me a lot of grief! Especially during wrestling and jui-jitsu practice. It doesnt bother my standup work though, unless a swing real hard and miss, sometimes that will through it out.

After 7 years of physical therapy I don't want to risk the nightmare I went through, plus an injury would cut into my surfing. I do still hit the heavy bag a little, and could cut weight to 125 pretty easy (I'm 135 right now). I'd have to fight a bunch of youngsters at my size, they'd make me look like a slow old man now though ;D

lol. We definitely lose speed as we age. My trainer just fought 2 months ago and lost to a 21 year old guy. He would have murdered this kid but it went the distance and he didnt have the stamina to do anything to the guy halfway through the second round. he lost by decision. Did I mention he is 48!!!!

Hey newreef, which gym do you fight out of? I used to go to Modern Combatives in Berkeley, not a fighter tho, just one of the few "bigger" guys the real fighters use as punching/uke bags.

lol. Nice! I know that school, its on University! I am out of Oakland Karate and Kickboxing. But was crosstraining with Frank in San Jose at Shamrock Submission Fighting, before he moved to his new gym.

I like to watch MMA... :) I spend about 6 hours a week at the gym but at the age of 31 I have never been punched a single time. I've always assumed that I have a glass jaw so in the 2-3 skirmishes I’ve been in since I was 18 I’ve always tried to end things quickly. I believe my 6’8” wingspan has helped me from taking one on the chin.
