Fragged plate coral care?

I got a fragged plate coral from the swap. Well actually I got 2 plates, one fragged, and one whole. The whole one is fine. It eats and extends. The fragged one is unhappy. Is there anything I can do to help it along? At first I thought I picked up a dead coral, but on closer inspection, I think I see it all retracted inside its skeleton. Any suggestions to make it happier - how long before it regrows into a round coral again? Should I add any supplements?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Time is the best thing for it, and flow but not too much flow. Light is less important while healing IME.

Should I try to shade it a bit and put it in moderate flow?
