Getting avatar under 1KB

Well, I love the new forum, now if I could just get my avatar to work! My RC avatar is a GIF around 7KB, and I'm trying to get it working here. I 've shrunk it down as far as I can with photoshop, even set the colors to 8 which is as low as I can go without it looking like garbage. Even with all that, I'm at 1.14 KB. Argh! Any tips?
