Hi all,
Wanted to see how much skimmate everyone produces?
I have a Euro reef cs100 that produces about 1 in of green sludge every 3-4 days....

is this normal? I am using a filter sock just before.........

I had a outbreak of algae about a month ago that I am still battling slowly. Shouldnt my skimmer be going crazy then?

It really depends on how you skim wet/dry and what your trying to achieve. For me I like to skim dry enough where the riser is seeing no resistance from turbulence creating a nice stout like head, and the bell housing is doing the bulk of the bubble organizing. Also, I want to be able to pull off the collection cup and not have to do any cleaning of the skimmer body, or riser from the skimmer body other than routine service.

On the flip side, I don't want to have to empty my collection every other day because I'll forget too often, so I typically err on the dry side of skimming.

Everyone has their preference.
