i just received a coral that was shipped overnight and upon arrival , all looked normal. no damaged box , no leaks, but when i unwrapped the container which was sealed with packing tape .......omg! the smell was horrid and the water was murky brown ....my question is should i acclimate like normal with adding tank water to existing smelly water or just use tank water and toss smelly water? after which i will dip coral. by the way its sps similar to lokani (hope i spelled right)

thanks in advance

I wouldn't acclimate, I would try to get it into your tank asap. How does the tissue look on the piece?

well after having placed coral in tank and waiting for lights to turn on.........all i could say was WOW. it's the brightest coral i have ever owned. is there such a thing as "snow white acropora"? if so i got one ;D

as i mentioned earlier...there was no signs of problems with the shipping, box was fine, styro lining inside , ice pack, and container sealed tight. even the water was not hot....but who knows how hot it got overnight and since it was more of a colony size ....maybe not enough water was used. needless to say the party i purchased from has offered to make it right and ship me additional frags next week after our heatwave calms down a bit.

thank you all for your advise.

sergio

oh by the way , anyone want a frag of my bright white coral? maybe dbtc :D

That's suck... A reason why I hate buy stuff online.. Good thing the vendor is willing to make it right.

It could have been the weather, bad luck, or maybe it was a freshcut frag that didn't heal so it was sitting in it's own "stress toxin soup"

If there is still flesh on it there is hope. But in this case from the discription, probably not.
