I won this beautiful LPS in the raffle. I was so psyched about winning Oyster Feast I didn't even notice the coral. I thought is was another red mushroom on a rock -ok, I happen to like mushrooms. I took it out of the bag and stuck it in the tank - Hey, it doesn't look like a mushroom... WOW :o What is that!

Please help me ID it and let me know best conditions for this red beauty! I promise to frag for future DBTCs. :D It is a good thing it came with Oyster Feast!

Yippee!

So, I should put it with my other Blasto in my med/high light tank? Right now it is in my high light tank, but it seems ok. Although feeding would be easier in the tank with all my lps'

Is it Blastomussa merletti or B. wellsi?

It is indeed a Blasto that Aquatic Central donated.

Yup, the blastomussa wellsi is from aquatic central. They tend to do better in lower light and lower flow.

Thanks all. :) I'll move it in with the other Blasto- thanks Ian.

Btw, how low can you go for lighting? Like Acanthastrea low? I have an Acan in my low light tank (not even 3 watts/gal PCs) which is growing fairly quickly, and wondered if Blasto's would be ok in there.

The blasto should do well there. When I had some they liked being shaded a bit.

Great! I have more options now. My med light tank is starting to get overcrowded. :)
