Installed an Anker Solix s2000 battery as a UPS. My hydros controller (skimmer, ATO, AWC, secondary return pump), primary return, and 2x gyres are connected. It provides me enough time (>8 hours) to switch to a gas generator for a longer power outage.

Make sure you test it by flipping the breaker and see if everything stays on.

I unplugged the battery several times to see if they stay on. Would there be a difference if I flipped the breaker? I think I also need to fully discharge the battery to see what would happen to the ac outlets when power is restored.

This is what I have connected to the backup. Mainly the feeder and dosing pumps I also like to keep running during an outage.

Gyres, ATO, etc are not shown here but are also running during outage through the Hydros collective.

Flipping it might be closer to an actual outage. Also good plan on draining the battery to see what happens. Throw the heater on it to speed it up.

Yes, nice meeting you too. I hope that Montipora Stella finds a good spot in your tank. Thanks for sharing your setup - these batteries should last pretty long without the heater and lights.

Do you use TOU mode? It is my understanding that during off-peak times, it will act as a UPS. During peak times, the battery will discharge. My off-peak times are 17:00 - 20:00. I'll try it out since I feel like I am underutilizing the battery if I am just using it as a UPS. My battery also has a feature called Storm Guard. It will fully charge if there is news of severe weather warning (storms and red flag events).

Great recommendation. I will look into this, since I only use it as UPS.

However, the risk might that if you use the battery during peak times, and there is an outage during subsequent off peak time, your battery has been already partially drained before that, and you lose capacity for extended outages.

Was getting small patches of cyano for the past 2-3 days. Maybe this was the reason. Found my Anthias shredded to pieces on the bottom. Unsure when he died. Had this fish for 6-7 years.
