LFS that sell Copepods/Amphipods near San Jose?

Are there any LFS that sell Copepods, Amphipods or very small snails for feeding to Triggers and Dragon Wrasse? Thanks!

What kind of trigger? How big is it and the dragon wrasse? Buying enough copepods to feed them would get absurdly expensive, even lfs snails that are meant more to be tank cleaners.

Unfortunately for those fish, that is a panacea.

Are they not eating typical frozen foods like mysis shrimp or krill? Or are you trying to stimulate some natural hunting habits? They do sell clams on the half shell. Some people with large predator fish buy food from the supermarket since it's more economical at the volume needed. Things like small clams, mussels, snails, scallop, shrimp.

The Picasso is eating great. The Dragon Wrasse doesn’t seem too interested in the frozen cubes, small pellets, dried krill or frozen shrimp. I did place a few small snails in the tank and he went after them. I ordered a bunch of small snails online, but they are a week out.

Awesome! I need to stop by there as well. I haven't seen the expansion in person.

They aren't really a "shelf stable" critter (they eat each other eventually), and catching per order is tough for LFS if they're culturing them. I've been to a few stores able to handle that, but most don't. You really have to pick your battles.

Thanks, that was the first product at Reef Nutrition I helped bring online when I was there. We sold them in bags in the beginning. Chad has really nailed the culturing of them.

They do a good job with the pods there.

Not sure how ambitious you are but…
Anywhere there’s eel grass, pickle weed and other marsh grasses in our bay you will find millions of large amphipods which some are invasive I think.. Just need a fishing license to harvest and make sure you’re not in a reserve. When I go fishing I usually bring back a bag or two and toss in the tank for treats ones from our northern coast primarily Marin, Bolinas but also Tamales bay/Bodega etc which get up to 1/2 like baby shrimps lol.. Never done the bay just too polluted..
