live rock slice frag plugs

First, my apologies to the butcher of the frags on the tile saw, I forget your name and I commend you on your fearless finger fragging'ness. I really liked those home made frag plugs you demonstrated making out of live rock. Does anyone have a handful or so I could have or is there another apartment friendly way of making them? I thought I heard of people saying using a hack saw? I was going to try and jigsaw some tonga branch I have but I'm not sure how that's going to work.

Thanks!

That was tuberider (Jeremy) who did the fragging demonstration. I have used a dremel before in an apartment setting to make some plugs but the tile saw seems to rule all, but at a minimum you could just go with some off the shelf frag plugs from a place like Marine Depot or at your LFS.

Don't jigsaw them! You'll be asking for finger removal. :D

I have a handful you can have, but I have no idea how to get them to you.

hey badbread...did I/ we win anything on the raffle??? Just curious...

I too and scared of the tile saw...all i can see is my fingers going thru the saw! Now instant finger frags!!!

I've hit that blade a few times, and have never been cut, it's actually not as difficult as it may seem.

On a side note, get what you can because Tonga is done with liverock where most of the branch stuff comes from, I believe that goes for the Walt Smith dry branch as well.

Good to know, is the Tonga branch not being imported/exported anymore?

Beau, we didn't win any gift cert's, it was kind of a everyone come up and take what you want after the gift certificates were handed out.

Thanks Thales, where are you located?

Seminole, I have regular old frag plugs but like many I hate frag plugs and after seeing levi's post on enhanced LPS growth on natural tiles as well as hearing Jeremy talking about how pourous they are I really want to try a few of these natural frag plugs if you will.

I usually mount on LR rubble as much as possible but when it comes to placing a chunk of rock in my display tank I think a nice flat piece would be so much easier.

Thanks all!

No I totally hear you. Just can be difficult some times dealing with the apartment situation with some of the bigger equipment needed.

One day I'll have a big house with an in tank wall, a garage full of craftsman tools, sumps, brute buckets full of water, a '68 440 GTX, and a mantown. :)
