Featured Monterey Bay Aquarium Tour 7/8/26

@FooFtr good question. We are only allow to take 6 people on the behind the scenes tour. This was a request from the Aquarium administration to minimize impact on staff and to enable access to some spaces which are quite small. Realizing that some people may want to come down with friends or family, I asked it I could guide additional people around the aquarium floor. That is the standard public portions of the aquarium that anyone with an entrance ticket can visit. They were fine with that. They did not give me any limit on the number for that but, from a practical standpoint, I don’t think I could lead a group of more than 20 around the aquarium floor. The aquarium can be busy in the summer. So, there are two portions of the day. A portion where the 6 people will get a behind the scenes tour, and a portion where everyone can walk with me around the public areas. I hope to have another guide to help me on the latter, too. Note that the actual schedule for the day could change as we are still finalizing staff availability for each area behind the scenes. I will provide an update once everything is set.

I'd like to attend but how many spots are available? In the original post it says only 6 members and then further down it says up to 20.

Honestly we need to confirm that every that indicated they are intrested is still planning to go.

I would only hate for someone who indicated they were going early on, not be able to attend when someone else could have possibly gone in their stead. As of now you 5 are confirmed as locked in for the behind the scenes tour.

Currently there are 5 people signed up, with space for 6. Not sure if @FooFtr has decided to attend without their +1 yet or not, don’t see them in the poll.

We'll see I've still heard nothing from those two. If I hear nothing from them by Sunday (lets say 10am for clarity) We'll open up those 2 spots. If you 100% confirm than and the other two haven't responded in some type of way by that time you can take the remaining two spots on first come first serve basis.

For the sake of transparency please reply here as you have been. So everyone can see that there is no funny Bussiness going on in dm. That who gets a spot is based on confirming they are going.


It's tough situation to be in but as mentioned earlier I would really hate to hold spots for people that may not show up. Hence the second and more recent confirmation request.

Since the original post said nothing about having to confirm later, and one or both of those 2 supporting members may well have made plans to attend and bought tickets but just not noticed this or come by BAR in the past couple days, I would not recommend booting them without hearing from them directly that they can’t go.

I texted and called @Fire_Reefer to see if he wanted to confirm, but didn’t get through. I don’t have contact info for @tuuli, if someone does they could reach out to them. With the holiday weekend, a lot of people are traveling or otherwise busy I think.

Sounda interesting! Would be fun to play hookie from work amd take my daughter! However, I think id have to take the whole family which would make a significant impact om the wallet xD Hopefully it all works out and perhaps we can get date going sometime. Does MBA accept frags ??

Since I am the last person to confirm, I understand if there is no room due to a mix-up. Please let me know when all is settled whether I am in or out. I will assume I am in at the moment, and I am looking forward to attending, but I don't want to feel like I took someone's spot, so just let me know either way.
