Cali Kid Corals

my new blue leptastrea

i picked this guy up today. polyps aren't extended yet. it looks like the blue/red lept but it isn't. this lept isn't hairy like most and the polyps are solid blue. :)

Looks like one of my first ones where I bought it as a Lept from James and didn't get it as a hitchhiker :D

Very nice, can we get a whole colony/frag shot?

lemme get a full shot of it gresh.

i've been eyeing it from the LFS for a while. they had it in their tank and decided not to sell it. after a few months it didn't color up to what they expected (they had it under flourescent lighting only..) they placed it in their halide tank and it colored up really nice blue. that sealed its fate! now its in my tank of doom mwahaha :D

Ah, looks like the Tongan imports that flooded the area for a short spell :) Nice piece for sure :D

Colonies of orange are hard to come buy. I see them at PAF if you ever make it down there :)

I lost mine this summer in the "Santa Cruz summer of Fire" :( One of the forest fires knocked out power while I was on a week camping trip, tripped only one GFCI, the one controlling all flow. I'm still pulling corals out and am about ready to can the entire system for a while (tankless). I may be leaving for a job that would make many simply jealous, but only for a month or two :) Not leaving Reed, but rather they are going to allow me to take some time off for it :) (wish me luck, if I get it I'll post about it for sure, but I don't want to jinx it now)

sorry to hear about your tank gresh.. do tell about the job when you get the chance :D

it's been over 2 yrs since i've visited PAF or any of the neighboring places. i'll keep an eye out for one at the shops locally.
