Anyone have mysis in their refugium? There are several tanks at Steinhart that have small shrimp all over the rocks and bottom, that look to be mysis to me, but I am not sure. Quarter inch at the longest with whitish to clear bodies.

The movements were race like darts. Quite entertaining on their own in the daylight. Swarming in a few of the tiny tanks.

Will the shrimp consume all the copepods? I am looking to set up a fuge and would like them in, if they would serve to boost the food source for a dragonet.

Thanks, Richard

I've had mysis in my display, I'm assuming some of them also were in the refugium as well. IIRC mysis are quite the voracious critter and will consume all others, including their own.

Yeah, you really don't want the Mysis around, they eat everything in sight.

Good to know. So I am not looking for a source of live mysis.

Typically mysis is used for freshwater ones and mysid is used for marine.

I've got a bunch in both my tank and fuge. It's quite fun to watch them and amphipods hunt the copepods :D

Won't they eat all the copepods, then crash?
