Neptune Aquatics

need a lamp stand or similar

for my new cube, I want to hang a 250w pendant over the tank ...
anyone know where I can get the lamp stand, pendant, and ballast?
Or just the stand?

I was thinking of PVC, however I was hoping something a little more dynamic and not so crude looking ... I'm not sure it a company manufactures a lamp tree?

Thanks Joyce
I saw that on DF&S as well ... very pricey! Unfortunately 150w is not enough, as this is a deeper cube ... I need a 250w to punch to the bottom.

Jim, and I believe someone else in the club used some galvinized pipe to make a "L" shape, along with a clamp to hang lights over a tank, and simply attached it to the stand, they also had it so it could rotate out of the way if needed. Very similar to the DF&S thing.

I use the retractabel light hangers for my lumenarcs. Just like ones in phishphood post. I purchased them at local hydroponics store. I attached to ceiling.

I guess this means no one thinks anything from IKea would hold up?
Is there anywhere I can go to have it made for me, out of EMT conduit?

Any electrican can make for you but for $$$. EMT 1/2" is cheap about $2-$3 for 10 ft length.
Making the the bends requires a conduit bending tool or if you are using 90 degree fittings they are kinda expensive about $3-$4 ea.

I think the pipe benders run only about 30 dollars at home depot. I personally don't have one or I would offer to bend it for you.

Does anyone have a drill to help me drill a a return hole in back of my cube when I get it!? That'd be sweet
I have some time, so I will think about how I am going to hang the pendant - thanks though iani!

Not that I am endorsing this but you could always go into home depot. Get the conduit, bend it in store and just buy the conduit haha.

Doubt it. That seems way to flimsy. What kind of light are you planning on hanging over your tank. Some pendants are heavy.

I'm not sure if that thing is strong enough to hold the MH light bulb ;D ... No way I would use it with any pendant.
What kind of tank do you need to drill? Is it glass or acrylic? Where do you live?
