New Office Tank?

So, they're moving my department into a new building. I saw my new office today. It's a little smaller than the one I'm in now, BUT there's a aquarium shaped ledge maybe 20" wide that's about 4' off the ground and runs the length of one wall (about 8'). I'm thinking I could do a long somewhat shallow tank. Maybe like 4' of aquarium, 2' for sump/skimmer, and then a couple feet in the corner for dosing pumps and a top off reservoir.

I'm a little worried about how much weight it can support. It appears to be 2x4 framing covered in drywall. Maybe if I go shallow it will be okay, though.

Any thoughts? What would you do with an 8' long ledge?

Shallow raceway frag tank with 2 4' vho or T5 tubes :D

Surge tank on a shelf or rack in the corner. Sump and skimmer under the surge.

Hmm. That would be cool. How tall are you thinking? Surge would be neat. How noisy are they?

Doug's tank would be a nice height.

Surge can be noisy or less noisy depending on how you vent the piping.

Steve(New Alameda) has a surprisingly quiet surge setup on his frag system. Surge tank drain is plumbed into underwater manifold in the frag tank. Decent venting using plastic drain fittings like how you would plumb a house.
