Any chance you hooking up a Koralia and bringing your Vortech unit to the meeting so I can flash mine? Pweety Pweeeeeze :D

Never got a response back from Ocean Treasures, so figured this would be the best time to do it.

How do you flash them with two units? Just curious :D I'm not all that familiar with them since the one I bought I do not possess nor did I ever try it out :(

They communicate wirelessly, at least newer ones are if you still have one of the originals not wireless, its now they talk to one another for slave/master mode for creating waves and what not. As a result you can upgrade the firmware via a series of button pushes (it's not automatic)

I knew they where wireless (I see Tim at nearly every show) but I didn't know how you'd flash them like that...pretty cool :)

I printed the instructions out and colored in the various colors, don't want to read "when it turns this color you're done" (ehh? grey?)

Thanks for the attempt Tony, don't know why it wasn't working, maybe too much residual fishiness in that whole building :D Either way got it upgraded at Rich's place (thanks Rich!) and then upgraded my other ones. Generation 2 in the hizzouse! :D

I could not upgrade mine until both units were running - i.e., the wetsides were engaged.

It was weird. Both Mike's and Eileen's went through the same troubles. Glad it got worked out. I was getting worried that there was a firmware failure requiring it being shipped back.

just notice that they have a "new" pink light which is the longer duration pulse mode (note to Rich). Got it going now just for kicks and giggles, hopefully I don't wake up with water all over the floor due to the waving motion.

Worth the money in certain circumstances, if you desire the low profile.

I have the Koralias and they work pretty well, was just wondering if these were that much better?

I started out with 2x koralia-2 and 2x koralia-1 used on a timer to alternate pairs. I replaced all of them with a single vortech on reefcrest. Personally, I am glad I bought it. I also got the battery backup since poweroutages can wipe a tank--a sound investment for me.

Like Mike said it really depends on what kind of a tank you have i.e. what kind of corals you are keeping.

well they have more waterflow, they're not as obtrusive as other powerheads, and are controllable as far as doing different things flow wise. However that being said you're probably ok with the Koralias pumps

Don't know - it was Rich's magical presence would be my best guess :D

Sorry Tony - you're not quite magical enough - lol
