Just in case you didn't know, BetaMax was used up until digital as the professional choice for broadcast quality video. VHS couldn't touch it in regards to quality.

Technically it was BetaCam for high quality professionals. Quite different. Like a 3X tape speed for example.
So while BetaCam was WAY better, BetaMax was better, but debatably "WAY" better than VHS.
But sadly like so many things, quality is not a deciding factor.

A fun note :
The semi-modern digital HDCAM-SR formats use the same BetaCam tape mechanism, so some modern DVRs can still
actually play old BetaCam.
With the old VCR basically gone, perhaps Beta won in the end??
