I purchased a flame fish a few days ago. Quarantined, and now I see spots. I gave a fresh water dip, and clear/white small oval appearing things came off its sides (had one on each eye too) (around 25 altogether). I wish I had a microscope to see more detail, but I don’t. I have been reviewing Ich and Velvet. I read Ich will not come off in a fresh water dip, so I strike that off my list. And with the pictures I seen of Velvet, it doesn't appear like that either (that will come off with a FW dip) Turbellarian flatworms have not been ruled out. Anyone with experience identifying diseases/pests? Will a copper treatment work for flat worms? Should I treat prophylacticly with copper?

Prazi pro works wonders on flukes.

External parasites dropping off after a FW dip does seem to make a worm (flukes or other) the best candidate but I couldn't say for sure. It definitely does not sound like a fungus or ICH. Keep it in QT and do a few more FW dips. You could also look into one of the parasite cures (prazipro is GREAT!) or just add Cupramine to the QT if you have it available.

Thank you soooo much. I did a quick search on the web for flukes and found some pictures. That is exactly what I am seeing/had seen on my fish!

I had purchased Cupramine thinking I would be treating Velvet (initally) until the FW dip. Yes, I do see PraziPro is recomended.

Thanks! ;D
