Question bout Phosban reactor

I just hooked up a TLF phosban reactor. I dont want to drop phosphates too quickly where it would shock my corals. Is there a recommended method to install them so its a gradual process? I only added half the recommended media for now. Is this a preffered method or should I have it with full media, but have it on a timer and allow it to be on more and more after a few days?

Start with only a little media, then gradually increase.

If you shut down the pump, the stagnant water won't be good when it comes back out on restart.

Does phosban affect PH or alk?

My PH has been a little higher then prior to its use and Im wondering if its related.

Plus my alk kit just ran out and I haven't been able to find salifert kits. Does the reactor affect alk?
