Rainford's and/or Hector's gobies?

Can any one enlighten me on the feeding habits of Rainford's and/or Hector's gobies? I've read the info out on the NET, but there is no info like first hand experience. Do they eat algae/hair algae? What kind of temperament do they have? Are they peaceful towards other fish? Any other information would be appreciated. :)

Most gobies are carnivores so if you want an algae eater, good luck finding one, They accept brine shrimp and other types of shrimp (live or frozen). Freeze dried is unhealthy for some marine fish. They are peaceful fish like most other gobies and do good at a temperature around 77F-80F. That would be pretty much all I know about this particular type.

Not sure about the Hector's gobies but don't get the rainford. Unless you don't want to see your fish. I see mine about 7 times since I bought it. Most of the time, it's 6AM in the morning. >:(

Not sure..

Do you ever see it eat? If so, what does it prefer? Will it pick at your macro algae? I don't see any hair in your tank.

OK, so from what you both have said, they don't serve a great purpose; other than the fact that I think they are nice looking little fish. I think I'll stick to the Tailspot then...it seems they have more potential.

Thanks for the input Phong and Euphyllia. Definitely helped me make up my mind. :)

Catalina gobies are pretty, but they are cold water fish; not appropriate for the warmer reef tanks most of us keep.

Green banded gobies are also nice if you want a small goby. Mine hang out under rocks some of the time but they also dash around and cling to the glass and dart out to grab food.

The don't eat hair algae. Or macro. They are carnivorous.

Your acting so correct yet you are so wrong. They die with out some hair algae. They eat it in the wild and in aquaria. They won't control your problem though!
