We currently have tru vu aquasystem with the standard fitration system and would like to add a protein skimmer to system. What are the recommendations?

I am not familiar with the Tru Vu Aquasystem; would you be looking for a HOB, or an in sump? If you're looking for the latter, what kind of foot print do you have to work with?

The aquasystems have a very small are to work with AFA skimmers. How big is the tank, that will have a bearing on what you can get by with.

In the past I've used air driven counter current skimmers in the heater chamber with success on smaller tanks.

Tank size 55 gal
Fish Load we have one clown, foxface, 4 small damsels, one cleaner shrimp, two peppermint shrimp, wrassee, blenny
Corals we are just starting (Green Star Poly, small orange caps, many small frags zoos, kenya trees, etc. that we got at the latest swap)
Derek at Ocean Treasures recommended that we may need to add protein skimmer because the standard filtration system that comes with the system does not filter out the very small stuff

I'm going to let Jeremy handle this one since he's got more experience with a variety of tanks, looks like there's a pocket in the middle/back that hides all the filtration equipment? Either way getting something in there might be a pain.

Yeah they are a PITA, but I really like the counter current Lee's skimmers, they fit right in the aquasystem without mods.

People may pooopooo the old school counter current, but AFA space vs. results they rock.

I have a free brand new Lee's skimmer if you want to give it a try, can't beat the price !!
and if it wasn't tempting enough, an air pump too (have to dig it out)

I Mentioned a Remora Skimmer that should fit on the back. Its the dimensions that Im looking at. The Lees skimmer would fit in nicely too. ;)

We picked up the Remora Skimmer from OTA on Saturday. Amazing unit. It started to work next morning. I was expecting a week or so before it were start working. It is very easy to install.

Thanks Derek for the recommendation and also the follow up.
