Does this work or will it nuke a tank?

Does it work how?
I imagine it will lower nitrate and phosphate, but will that “manage algae”? Not on its own

If you search for “NOPOX” you’ll see a lot of experience and discussion. It’s carbon dosing. It certainly works to bring down N and P since most tanks are carbon limited.

I have used it -it works but brings down nitrate a lot more than phosphate though at least for me. I ended up using a different product. Def go slow though!

Well, lanthanum binds phosphate and this produce likely also removes nitrate

Based on what’s in it I think it’ll be fine to use carefully, but probably won’t be that effective for algae removal. You need herbivores for that

Right, typically carbon dosing affects N far more than P. You'll still need lanthanum to reduce if the overall goal is P reduction.
