RO trouble shooting

Hey Guys,

I recently bought a new 75 GPD RO membrane from bulk reef supply to stick in my Coralife unit. The clean water output is normal (a little over 3 gallons per hour), but the waste line flows at the same rate. Here are the details:


- coralife 24 GPD unit
- replaced with 75 GPD membrane
- removed old flow restrictor from waste line
-installed new 75 GPD flow restrictor in waste line
- added DI component to clean line
- installed new sediment and carbon pre-filters

anyone got any ideas?

I also emailed Bulk Reef and they told me to test my output with a TDS meter. Is there any one with a TDS meter that would like to test my output

My 100gpd unit only puts out about 5g per hour depending on what the temperature is (warmer faster flow colder like now slower flow).

Did you replace the micron filter and/or carbon filter?

Why do they want to you check the output? I would think checking the water pressure would make more sense..

I have a TDS meter you can borrow. I'm in the city, Laurel Heights area.

I replaced the sediment filter with a new 5 micron and replaced the Carbon filter as well. I have the unit hooked up to a garden hose outside so the pressure should be good, right?

I just finished taking apart everything that unscrews and I found a second flow restrictor in the 90 degree elbow that connects the waste line to the membrane housing. I think this is my problem.

Gresham, didn't ge to sleep till ~1am. Got my two glasses of wine in though! May require another two tonight. Maybe I'll really treat myself to...getting off work before 7pm today!!!! THat is worth a whole bottle of celebration.
