Hello fellow BAR/Reefers
I’ve been in the hobby for the last 20 years primarily fish only for the 1st half.
Got out of the hobby for 4 years and back again.
This time I’m aiming for a mix reef soft and hard corals. My new tank has been up and going since beginning of December 2019 and started to add live stock last week. So far everything looks happy.

Equipment
2 AI Hydra 32 HD
Trigger sump 26 emerald
GFO reactor
Bio pellet reactor
Refugium with kessil H80
Aqua station silent 12000 return pump
60lbs reef ready rock
60lbs live Samoa pink sand
MP40
Icecap 1k gyre
Tunze 6040
3 channel dosing pump

Photo below of tank I had before I left hobby in 2013

This is my new set up.

I will update chemistry and journal shortly.

You think it’s to soon?
So far the sps is looking good one of the tips were missing a little flesh and it has grown over in a matter of 5 days. Other than that fingers crossed hope everything works out. Making sure water perimeters are good etc..

Looks good! How do you like the Samoa pink sand? Do you see the pink particles with your lighting? We set up a 20g tank with that sand, which I have always wanted to use. It has vintage PC lighting and low flow, but I wonder how it would look with LED/more blue light and if the sand would blow everywhere with more flow.

The sand looks good just wanted to try something different. It’s doesn’t sine/glimmer much and it’s is a little finer than I wanted and did move with flow but it settled pretty well.

unless, of course, you really like it
a tank full of it can be a truly beautiful thing
Well that was a 180! When I see anthelia and star polyps now it just reminds me of all the time I spent trying to scrape it off rocks. It would reappear long after I thought it was all gone.

Yes welcome to BAR!

I just got new master test kit from Salifert
My Red Sea test kit expired in December 2019
Probably still good.

My parameters are
Ca- 380
Alk- 7.7
Mag-1200
Salinity 1.026
It’s roughly 70 gal with sump
Any suggestions with my levels
