Shift in color temp = bleaching

I've been using a XM 20kk hqi metal halide for the past 2 and a half months as my sole lighting source, and it appears the color temp has shifted, losing most of its blue and purple tint. With that, several of my top shelf corals have seemed to bleach a bit. Is this normal, and has anyone else experienced this?
