Skimmer water usage

How ofter do you guys add water to your tank / sump because of the skimmer. It seems that I need to add about a gallon a day because of the skimmate from the MR-1 skimmer.

Is it because I'm running it wet instead of dark foam?

a gallon a day is way too much for my 100G /w 50G sump. I'm running it wet too... Maybe 1G every 1.5 week.

"a gallon a day" may not be the right word for it. But it feels like a gallon a day. I think I need to run it a little less wet and more on the dry foamy side for a week and see how that goes.

Maybe a gallon per day including evaporation? Whatever you see in the cup essentially is all the skimmate you pulled out.

I pull out about a 1 gallon every two days, most days I let the auto top off take care of the make up water, but every few days, I'll add back some ASW to keep the salinity from dropping.

A gallon a day is no problem if you don't mind adding salt or saltwater to maintain salinity.

I look at it as a nice constant water change.

Yup... I think so too. I'm tweaking it more to have less of a wet skimate.

Not too wet at all.If its green. I skim almost that much too and its still quite green. I evaporate over 2 gallons a day. So I have aut top off for evaporation and I always have salt water mixed up tp do multiple weekly WC and to replace what skimmer removes..
