Our mission

Strange rock flower issue

Earlier today, when I was away from the tank, a filter sock clogged and the water level rose to the point that it was touching my screen top. The resulting salinity issue is being dealt with, but during the clog one of my particularly mobile rock flowers (he was living on the side glass yesterday, and on the rock the day before) decided to take up residence on the aluminum frame of my screen top. After changing the sock, the water level drops to the point where his head (disc, crown?) is submerged but his foot is out of water. I have since tilted the screen top such that the part with the anemone is submerged, but my question is how do I remove him from the screen top without damaging his foot? The lid angle is not a long term solution, due to the fact that I have a particularly jumpy clown.

You can try ice in a baggy to rub the foot and see if it detaches. Or if you want to manually remove it use something flat like a credit card and very gently and slowly pry it off without damaging the foot.

Update: he jumped off the lid and landed right next to my mushroom. Thanks for the advice anyway, I'll keep this in mind if this ever happens again.
Another easy way is to just put on a simple rubber gloves and rub your finger with increasing pressure between it and the screen top / glass / rock etc. They will normally release and it will not damage their foot.
