Using TWO skimmers in a tank?

Hi all! I'm having horrible hair algae issues. I think it got the jump on me when the air intake of my AquaC EV-120 was clogged with salt (or something, when I broke it up to remove it, it didn't dissolve in water OR vinegar). Anyway, the EV-120 is working fin now, pulling out a lot of crap, but since I have sitting around both an AquaC Remora and a Coralife Supperskimmer 65... I was wondering if I could boost skimming by adding one of the spare skimmers (OK, only one is spare, the CC65, the Remora is running on my QT tank) to the sump as well?

My sump has two compartments that have constant levels (one spills into the other, then that one spills into the return pump section) so that the skimmers would not be fighting each other in terms of changing the water level.

Worth doing? Or counter productive? I'd only do it until I can get a handle on the hair algae.

My wife would prefer that I not spend time fiddling, so if I don't want to try it if it's gonna be a headache and not worth doing.

Opinions?

One skimmer seems to always shut down the other, but it wouldn't hurt IMO :)

i ran two skimmers at the same time when i was waiting for our new one to break in.

The first week, the old skimer performed the same, skimming out nasty thick crap, and the new one skimmed water with a slight yellow green tint.

The second week and half of the third they were about even..the old skimmer skimmed less, but was still working well....the new one started pulling out "dark green tea" colored skimmate..

half way through the third week and so on the older skimmer, which was in the chamber after the new one, barely skimmed much...it would get a thin film along the neck, but thats about it..the new skimmer took the bulk of the crap out before the second one had a chance to get to it...
