Water change question

Hi again everyone,

I heard that dumping salt water down the drain isn’t good for your plumbing. What are the safest ways throw away used salt water?

Salt is not that bad. If you got cast iron and then threw down some draino or another for of harsh acid, then it will add to the corrosion.

It's fine to dump down the drain in the quantities that we do. As mentioned if you had a septic system and did absolutely gigantic water changes then yeah it may screw with the chemistry of the microbes in there, but for everyone connected to the sewer system it's perfectly fine. I mean the Steinhart Aquarium had limits on how much they could dump, but they're dealing with hundreds of thousands of gallons worth of tanks, and this requirement was with the sewage system dealing with treatment and less about how it affects the pipes in a house.
