I get this algae that has a real distinctive color and even the patterns are alike. Grows as flat disks and is hard.will creep over a zoa colony sometimes... occasionally sheds a clear coat. Most colorful thing in my tank though (sigh)

Just noticed there is a bonus piece of read-puffy algae in there for variation.

I won't be able to look at it the same way.

Thanks guys... It's really snug to the rock. Everywhere, the peeling thing is starting to bother me.

Can you chuck the rocks with this stuff on it?

With the Lobo... Probably not... Although, If I replace my tank (a possibility as it's a 10 year old acrylic) I have plans to just cook the rocks out in the sun for a few weeks. That might even kill the pink Puffy.

Should I be concerned about this colorful algae?

Did you yank the rock and scrape it off, I've pretty much got the stuff everywhere.

is it calcareous? It's really nice looking, if I were to pick a pest algae I think that's the one!

I tend to agree Jeremy; it is pretty and is the most color I have in the tank right now. No where near as troubling as the red-puffy.

It looks more leathery than calcareous. If it ends up on the acrylic, I'll scape some to get a better idea.
