When do you give up on a bleached frag

After my tank leeked and I had to tear it all down last week, several of my SPS frags basicly became white. Now only because I have heard stories of them coming back I mounted a grat deal of the ones that looked like that had bleached but noit lost all tissue. Now the question is when do you cut your losses (I want to know because a couple of them were DBTC items as well and I would like to update the threads)

I never give up until there is no more tissue. bleached just means time to recover

What Tony said. I had a tank accident way back when and all the sps in the tank bleached. It only took a few weeks for them to color back up.

Is it safe to say when algae grows on the frag it's dead?

I would say yes. If algae is growing on a spot there is no tissue in that area.

Well algae can grow on healthy tissue too... it'll just kill it in the process, but yeah if there is algae growing, I'd toss it in a bucket and call it a frag plug.

frag off the algae part and keep the bleached algae free part

well I have limeted room on my frag racks to home white branches with no signs of life......ROFL

I give up in my tanks it takes while to recover. It depends on persons tank though. I agree no tissue and you got another frag plug
