Where to get CO2 tank and check valve?

I ordered a Geo 618 Calcium Reactor and a deluxe regulator last week and have a couple questions about the CO2 tank:

- Where could I get a CO2 tank in the Redwood City or Hayward area? Also, I heard when you need a refill they usually exchange the tank so do you have to buy your first tank or can you "rent" one?

- Do you recommend 5lbs or 10lbs tank?

- I forgot to order a CO2 check valve and was wondering if there is anywhere around here I could buy one as well?

I would go for a 10lb tank. You can get one at Air Gas in South City. I had a 5 lb tank that I recently exchanged out for a 10lb tank. You need to ask for a nicer tank. If they have one they will hook you up.

Today I also ordered a check valve from Marinedepot since I have no clue where I could get one around here. Hopefully I will have it by the weekend.

With the jbj or milwaukee bubble counter you don't need a check valve. The bubble counter is the check valve.

The Geo calcium reactor says it has an auto fill bubble counter. Do I also not need a check valve then? I didn't order a bubble counter with the regulator since I figured it is already included with the reactor.

Oh wow, wish I had found that one earlier. I might still do because I ordered this plastic one:

The only brass check valve they had at marinedepot was $35 which was a little steep for a check valve.

Can you cancel the marine depot order? Or did it already ship?

It didn't ship yet but it says when you place the order that once you submit it there are no changes possible. I logged into my order but nowhere it shows anything to make changes to it (I ordered other things as well to get to $175 for free shipping).
Oh well, guess I will have to start with the plastic one and see how it goes and maybe later upgrade to the brass one you linked. It has two good reviews and it costs more than the brass one you linked so hopefully it will work.

what's the check valve for ? I don't remember ordering one with calcium reactor setup.

a check valve is a 1way flow device. When your CO2 cylinder is empty, the pressure in your reactor will be about equal to the pressure in your co2 cyliner. A check valve prevents salt water from filling up your cylinder.

Likewise, I think people use them in their returns to prevent dumping their tank into the sump in a power outage.

Check the CO2 or airpump/accessory section at your LFS. That is where I got mine.
