Hi All,

I have a Fritz red box salt which mixes to 12dkh. I’d like to lower it to around 9 before adding to tank.

So far, research shows Muratic Acid or Sodium Bisulfate as possible options.

Would really appreciate any thoughts or other options. Right now I’m continuing to let it mix as there are reports that Alk will drop if over mixed.

Much appreciated.

The easiest way is to use it and let your tank inhabitants lower it for you. Just use small amounts spaced out over time. Like if you’d normally do a 20% water change once a month (just making details up) instead do 5% water change once a week. And decrease your alk/Ca dosing during the time as needed.

Or sell it and get what you need.
