Best way to get from Fairfield to San Jose area using Public Transportation

I'm fairly new to the Bay Area and am completely unfamiliar with the public transportation systems here. My Brother is training for the next couple of months at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield and I'm looking for the best (cheapest and fastest) way to get him down here this evening to spend the weekend with us. Any recommendations? Thanks!

thats probely the best and fastest way. The problem is no Bart in fairfeild, and in fact known until he gets all the way to El cerrito (richmond bart is nowhere near the 80 freeway) The are 3 counties he will need to cross so he needs to take like 3 busses and then BART if you go that route.

I would say Amtrack
