Heater ran dry - is it safe to use?

Ok so during a water change, stupid me accidentally left the heater plugged in after I pulled it out of the water. What's worse, I didn't realize it was running dry till 2 days later. Thankfully, nothing else happened and the heater looks intact (no cracks). It is not glass, its a cobalt aquatics mini therm and only 10W. Question is, is it safe to use to heat saltwater for water changes?

I'd go the safe route and say no BUT could be a heater that just ran 24/7.
If you have a multimeter, put it in water, turn it on and dip one end of the meter in the water and the other on the ground receptacle of a power outlet or metal conduit. It will show if there's current leak; if so, toss it.
Make sure you set the multimeter to VAC

Agreed. If you need a meter to borrow I have a cheap one that does the job.

Thanks for the offer. I just decided it’s better to be safe and dump out the saltwater. Thankfully I have another spare heater lying around.
