How to safely breakdown tank with burrower dwellers?

Hey, I'm going to be breaking down my 24 gal cube soon and was wondering how to do this while keeping my 2 burrow dwellers safe? It's a pistol shrimp and yasha goby. There's a very very deep layer of sand. Do I carefully scoop out sand and try to not disturb their burrow until the very last bit of sand is left? I have a huge rock that is right next to/part of their burrow and I'm guessing I shouldn't pull this out until I get them safe?

Thanks in advanced for the help!

First
Remove all rock
Drop waterline to almost empty
If you know wher the entrances are, with your fingers, rake through the sand
Try to get your fingers below the den to force fish n shrimp to surface.
Good luck

I'm afraid if I remove the base rock their cave will collapse as the rock is one of the walls of their den
