Our mission

Name that parasite!!

Noticed this on my wrasse yesterday. The wrasse has not been able to fully close its left gill for a few weeks now. Been trying to catch it to medicate but didn't have any luck.

After seeing this 'thing' hanging from it, I made a concerted effort and watched it like a hawk all evening till I managed to catch it diving into the sand to sleep. After 2 unsuccessful attempts, I finally cornered it with a plexiglass sheet n netted it out.

Treating it with pariz right now but it's been 10 mins and it's still attached. Wait longer? Or do I have to setup a hospital tank?

I waited till the wrasse could barely move. Out of desperation, I pulled out of the water and used a pair of tweezers and pulled as much of it all as I could.

Returned the wrasse to the DT right after. It later there for about 20 secs then swam off.

It was up and about this morning so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Did it by any chance look like this? Tiny worm-like thing, stuck on?
Had this on my Hawkfish several years ago.
I picked it off with very sharp tweezers, and treated with Prazi.
