    A Macro Cube

Had a few speed bumps, power outage, no heater for days during vacation, all swings but it’s normalized! Corals are open, good color and signs of growth all around. Currently fighting ULNS. Can’t get nitrates above 0 and phosphorous is at 0ppb. I’ve been dosing about 20ml of live phyto every...

A classic - torches are melting

https://www.bareefers.org/forum/threads/a-macro-cube.39536/#post-565284 Thought I posted the link earlier. The alk swing could definitely come from bacteria consuming it due to a new tank. when the ato failed I tested prior to adding rodi and then over the course of hours brought it back...

A classic - torches are melting

In the past month, I’ve had 8 hour power outage, alkalinity swing from 9.5 to 7 over three days, heater outage for three days, low nitrates, and a young tank. I feel like the general conclusion is just too early for torches and stressful events

A classic - torches are melting

https://www.bareefers.org/forum/threads/a-macro-cube.39536/#post-565284 I had advice to do corals only first and added a bi color blenny a month ago, and my nitrates have been consistently near zero despite feeding daily brine shrimp, oyster feast, live phytoplankton. The tank is young, and...

A classic - torches are melting

There hasn’t been any jelly coming out of them just straight melting. I do have an inkbird it was just switched off at the outlet on accident. Somewhat of a mystery on how. I have Red Sea for nitrates and it’s a new kit. I have old reagents for a Hanna but haven’t used it

Also I do have an inkbird with titanium heater. Either the outlet switch was bumped off before I left or when the ato module fell off the wall and knocked it off. Either way was off for a few days but cold isn’t as big of a killer as heat

I have one head that is threatening to also die off. Id did seem to spread to the torches one by one. Should I try to dip it with iodine, coralrx, h2o2?

A classic - torches are melting

Hi I have had multiple torches melt, there’s been a few factors of alk swings (from 9 to 7 over 3 days) while I was away, since then I set up a doser to stabilize it and have been still dialing the daily alk. I also had a heater failure off while I was away and left the tank around 66 for...

    A Macro Cube

Tank has been settling in decently with corals, macro and a bicolor blenny. I do notice my euphyilia tend to close up after the peak photo period then reopen a couple hours later. I dropped the peak blue, uv channels by 10% and seemed to improve that. I think I’m going to up the flow rate...

    A Macro Cube

I received some advice to add corals first (already added 8 macro algaes) before fish. Any thoughts on this advice? I’m hoping to get some torch, hammer, frogspawn, acans but am wary of BJD in a new tank. I have enough experience that I definitely do not want gsp, cloves, Kenya tree or zoas.

    A Macro Cube

I also got lucky to find a perfect 18”x18”x18” cube tank used. Thanks, I’ll take the sponge out. Anything I should use in place of a sponge?

    A Macro Cube

I want some corals as well, the canister is just sponge, ceramic media for added bacteria area. I found that marble stand on the streets of SF for free!
