Also if you need to switch off your lights, it is not a big deal. Corals go out without light during storms, hurricanes, whale sex, etc. as someone (forget who) here is always saying.
You should use a PAR meter to understand what your lights are giving below the surface and at what depth. The club has PAR meters that you can borrow.
I run my ap9x at 15% to 20% 12" from the surface of the water. 6" below the surface, I am at 100 par I think (I have to look at my notes).
I think you can feed a fish in a tank too much. It is not like it is out in the wild where it is constantly working for its food, hustling away from predators, etc. and in need of that many calories.
A fat fish is not necessarily a healthy fish.
