So secret out is that one of the speakers coming up will be the head aquarist from this project. I visited last month and was really impressed with what they're trying to do: basically be a living bank of every tropical coral species found in Australia.
They use RFID embedded frag plugs to track the corals, get proper identification from Charlie Veron, and maintain other locations as backups. They're a little over halfway done with collection.
These are photos from the Port Douglas location in Queensland:
Extremely clean and well temperature controlled area (location opened just a few months ago). Tanks kept 24-25C at all times. Forgot to get a picture of their battery backup system.
Coral flats lit by donated Orphek Natura iCons. I thought the corals looked pale despite the number of fish.
Neptune control with MP60 drivers. Mastertronic on its way but currently all tested manually. Monthly ICP done with Triton method dosing of individual elements. I like the wire ducts/cable guides that @HankDean V recommended here for @jamie 's build. Very clean setup.
Sumps are separate per flat and they use a reverse cycle with chaetomorpha and lots of REAL live rock (tagging @Turkeysammich as he loves this). Big reef octopus skimmers. White freshwater AI blades to light the sump and lots of urchins down there to keep the rock clean. Activated carbon in the media reactors.
