Does anyone know a welder?

The lady who runs the local gym I go to - a very bare bones, basic, low-cost but good gym in Walnut Creek - needs a welder to fix a larger part of a partially broken piece of gym equipment for which there is no replacement available.

Let me know if there is someone who would be willing to look into this.

Ill let you borrow one.

What needs to be welded? What part of the machine? Any pics? If the weld broke would or could it kill someone?

You'd need to diss-mantel that equipment to really be able to weld that but it looks like whatever is under that is bent too. I'm not sure its possible to repair that, your talking about more then just welding. may need a lathe or mill to re-produce that piece under it? Anyway bottom line no ones gonna be able to help without personally going there and looking at it, and also someone is gonna need to take it apart. The question becomes is a replacement for the entire machine cheaper then the labor and materials to repair it.

Thank you. The part below seems fine. It is only the part that is seen on the picture which is broken.

I agree that this looks like a bigger job than it first seems. Disassembly, sandblasting to remove the coating, welding, re-coating, reassembly, etc.

Is that just a bump stop, of sorts, to stop the cable “wheel” from turning too far? i wonder whether the machine can function safely without it, but that brings up liability.

Whoever did those previous welding beads um umm No Bueno!! Very careless unprofessional work..plus no welder I know will risk liability as mentioned above!
