The egg crate trick is so useful, new reefers should take note. I did this several times (before my tank was too grown in) to separate and catch problem fish or acclimate.

After the 5th new fish died within a week, I tested the water.

Nitrate is way high at 2.10
Phosphate is through the roof at 0.25
Other parameters are on point.

Did the first ever 45-50g water change after 4 months and cleaned the skimmer.

Those are rookie phosphate numbers I'm trying to get my tank back down to that!!! Nitrate does sound a bit high, sorry to hear about your losses...

I don’t think a 40-50 gallon water change on that system is large enough to have any real effect.
On my 300 reef I change about 100 gallons
And if there’s an issue, I’ll change more.
And probably repeat that depending on what I see

Another disaster. I really should rename this thread to stop the jinx.

The sump sits on a tray that is about 2 " high wall Good thing cause the tray was overflow and water didnt spill too much onto the hardwood floor.

Really should make use of the 6 siren leak detectors siting in the drawer.

THE SUMP HAS A LEAK

Damn it mofo sofab....ahhhhhh

Drained the sump. Moved chaeto and the bioballs into an IM20.

Bro suggested to rtv acrylic to run along the edge.

Sorry to hear bro. It’s acrylic ? Rtv won’t work plus it might have chemicals. If it is acrylic. Weld on 4. Or 16. Clamp it when the acrylic softens. Then bond a reinforcement strip along the seam. At last a 1/4” thick on both sides.

Use 1/2" extruded acrylic bar from tap plastics and weldon 4. But honestly, sometimes you gotta "cut bait and run" replacing all the problem equipment you have to save yourself the time of cleaning your leaks, the headache and money of fixing your problem, and to give you some peace of mind.

Yes acrylic. The corners are round. Thanks for the tip.

The sump sits on top of 4 pieces of 20x2x.25" thick acrylic that don't cover the whole bottom. I should have not skimp out. Going to add more acrylic to the bottom. Its a bad design.
