aiptasia. It's pretty bad because they're hard to get rid of and will sting fish/coral but that's only a problem at plague proportions(if your nutrients get out of control).

I think all salts affect salinity. You're right though, the question remains what those 20-30 lbs of "salt" really are.

maybe just the NaCl salt that's missing. there's gotta be like 10(maybe 100?) other salts that make up sea water
