My 10 gallon tank has dinoflagellates. Should I breakdown and re-setup or treat?

I decided to do a blackout of the tank on Monday evening. I took a peek at the tank today and the dino is hardly noticeable. I'm thinking of doing a blackout until Friday. Hopefully, the corals will be fine without light for that long. I also bit the bullet and ordered some Fauna Marin Ultra...

My 10 gallon tank has dinoflagellates. Should I breakdown and re-setup or treat?

Hi Everyone, My 10g tank has dinoflagellates in the tank. It is on the glass, rock, corals, basically every where. I've only been in the hobby since March of last year and learning every day. I initially thought that I had bubble algae and some other kind of algae, until I was told that I...

    WTB: Fauna Marin Algae X

I don't know from personal experience in regards to Dino, but it might be worth a try. I know one emerald crab took care of my bryopsis and bubble algae in my tank. Maybe I was lucky on the crab I bought.

Have you tried an emerald crab? I've read that some have had success with Dino.

    Sam's 10g work tank

My long over due update. Everything has been going smoothly since I setup the tank. I ended up switching my lighting to a buildmyled.com strip light with a manual dimmer. I've added various corals and recently added a yellow clown goby to my original two clownfish. I haven't had to do any...

Recommendation for a really red coral?

The fixture is the original series (high output). My tank is only a 10g tank, so I didn't choose the XB series (very hight output) fixture.

Using water directly from the ocean?

My only concern with your plan is what would be your backup plan if your natural seawater supplier stopped delivering. Then you would have to either find a new supplier or start making your own saltwater which you are reluctant to do now because of costs.

Using water directly from the ocean?

The saltwater that Neptune Aquatics in Milpitas sells is natural seawater collected somewhere I believe near Half Moon Bay. I've been using this water since March without any issues. They do dose it I believe to raise some levels better suited for reef tanks.

Recommendation for a really red coral?

It was very hard to restrain myself, but having a 10g tank I'm limited on space. I don't know anything about gonioporas, so I was reluctant to purchase. I believe they are temperamental and thus probably not the best coral for a newbie like myself.

Recommendation for a really red coral?

I was at Neptune Aquatics today buying some RO water and saw a pink goniopora like Spoon had suggested. I had never seen one in person and was very impressed. They have one in there small nano display tank in the back near there bagging station. And were selling frags of this. I was...

Recommendation for a really red coral?

Not sure on which corals, just looking for suggestions. I'm leaning towards zoas since I have experience with them. I just do water changes and don't dose, so if I added an SPS would I need to start dosing?

Recommendation for a really red coral?

I read this is an aggressive coral.
