Tank cycle and AquaBiomics live reef sand

The way I look at is if there are 40 strains of beneficial critters in the sand and 30 die off that's 10 I've gained. In addition to the 1-2 strains I get from the initial seeding from Microbacter 7/Fritz TurboStart/Dr Tims etc. Just didn't think I'd still have this much ammonia in the tank at...

Tank cycle and AquaBiomics live reef sand

Hi all. I was expecting to see the 112g tank cycled at 0ppm ammonia by today but it's not. An order of AquaBiomics live reef sand arrives tomorrow afternoon. I assume I can add this to the tank with >0.2ppm ammonia with no problem as it will just help the cycle. Am I wrong? Thoughts? Regards, Ant

    Favorite books?

If you can track these down they'll fit the theme of unfinished works :-) Very unusual sci-fi from the 70's I think some say the drugs were pure back then..

    1st visit to High Tide

Went this morning, met Kenny, grabbed some Jelly beans, and got a tour. The shop is much bigger than the few pics i'd seen. Highly recommend a trip over if you haven't yet. It's a nice shop and Kenny is a good guy.

Anyone feel like sharing some of their favorite books? I've always been a sci-fi/fantasy type and have been having issues finding quality books to read lately. Feel like sharing? Here are a few I love... Tad Williams "Dragonbone Chair" RA Salvatore Anything Drizzt or Forgotten Realms Brandon...

    Innovative Marine 112 INT build

Currently the tank is sitting 2/3rds full and very close to dead center on 4 sides. (Using a 4 foot level this time). Going to wait a few more hours before draining it to make sure it stays that way. Hopefully I’ll be running rodi into it tonight.

Wanted to say thank you for pushing the point so to speak. The easy path would be to ignore that slight deviation in level but the right thing is to do the hard thing and get it fixed now. I appreciate the push.

Thanks Casey! Hope that back heals up quick. Middle of summer isn’t ideal for a tank move OR back issues. I think I have enough help to get the shim added this afternoon. Just have to lift it enough to add a shim without wiggling it around and dislodging the rest of them. If I do need the...

Stopped the cycle and drained the tank. Anyone close by San Ramon with a few muscles feel like stopping by?

It does. Due to the design of the stand it's definitely not the best approach.

Guess I need to drain it and schedule a couple people to help lift it enough to slip another shim in.

The concrete floor is pretty bad. I have 1/2" of shims in the back left, 3/8" in the front left and 1/4" in the back right. It settled a bit on that back right corner after water was in it for at least half a day.

Yes it's just a smidge lower towards the back right corner. Maybe 3/16" difference in water height left front corner to right rear corner.

Does anyone have a tank sitter checklist? How does mine look?

For 2 weeks I'd say skip having them do any testing or scraping the glass. Also reduce feeding to once every 3 days. Checking for jumpers around the tank could easily sub for counting the fish and be much less time consuming. The rest is much the same as I would ask of a sitter. You could take...
