    100w Multi Chip LED Project

I've been researching the dream chip and the lumia 5.1 chips and theyre essentially the same it seems. I just got an arduino recently also but am in the process of learning how to use it, so I probably wont have a chance to hook a 5 channel chip up anytime soon. The colors look amazing from...

    100w Multi Chip LED Project

I have the 10k/450-460 NM chip and wish it was bluer. Certain corals just dont have the right pop I see in some other tanks. I might not have all the right blue wavelengths to activate those flourescent pigments.

    Anyone build your own ATO?

That is actually not a fully safe assumption. If your overflow gets blocked, your sump will pump the contents of the return chamber into the tank, and as that gets low, your ATO will kick in and fill it. So you would only be safe if you had room in your DT for both the return chamber plus your...

    Anyone build your own ATO?

    100w Multi Chip LED Project

I believe with most lenses, that the light going into the lens, should converge on the focal point of the lens. That is assuming that the lens was designed properly and built to spec. Also with lenses, you usually lose 15% of your power/light transmission due to the inefficiencies of lenses.

    New to the club!

Thanks! I'm in the process of building a sump right now and doing all the piping. Not sure if I should do a remote DSB and a chaeto chamber, or if i should just do live rock in one chamber, chaeto in the other. Any thoughts??

    100w Multi Chip LED Project

I'll have to find some time to get some pics for you. Been pretty busy with the holidays, and I've been on the hunt for a sump to fit under my stand, yet be the right size! I think the hybrids are really the way to go. I am starting to want more pop from my corals. It seems that some of my...

    100w Multi Chip LED Project

I can't find the exact one right now, but its pretty much this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/100W-IP67-Waterproof-Dimmable-LED-Driver-AC100V-AC240V-for-100W-HP-LED-Bulb-Lamp-/321149106180?pt=US_Lighting_Parts_and_Accessories&hash=item4ac5fa7804 Dean connectors are cool, but not water proof...

    100w Multi Chip LED Project

I built these about a month ago and they're great! Probably need to back down on the power level I have right now since they're probably too strong. One thing I recommend is sealing up all your wiring. Epoxies, tv, or liquid electrical tape are your friends. My setup is splash resistant up to...

    New to the club!

The picture is much more violet than in real life. That's usually the problem with pictures. Mine is slightly bluish, but pretty much on the white side. Not very many warm colors. I would say that it matches very closely with a kessil a360.

The black thing is a wooden black shelf from OSH. Fit perfectly for what I needed and was cheap and easy to work with. Yep they are multichip LED's. Both are 100 watt lEDs off eBay. 40 10k/60 royal blue ~445nm. I'm getting excellent growth with them. Had them about 1 month so far. Had three...

    New to the club!

Thanks everyone! Yep that's an AC above the tank but it is never used. At one point last summer I used the fan function on it to cool the tank by ducting air across the top of it to get evaporative cooling.
