    Bangai’s bred in my tank!

Week 8 update: Fish are all alive and doing well. Time to upgrade their tank size. Going to do a 20g long. Don’t know if I can start the HOB filter yet for better circulation and filtration. I don’t know if they are strong enough to avoid getting sucks up onto the intake grill. Going to keep...

Hawaii snorkeling and coral recommendations (Kona, Kauai near Poipu)

I have done the manta ray snorkel twice at the Muana Kea resort. I don’t think you have to be a guest there to sign up for it. It was an awesome experience. If you have kids or anyone that gets sea sick the best part is that you just walk in from shore. You are maybe 100ft from shore. Makes it...

How has everyone’s corals from the swap been doing?

    Even more geographically desirable. Hahaha.

How has everyone’s corals from the swap been doing?

It is up to you. Don't want you end up being short changed. No rush, but you are definitely more geographically desirable...hahaha.

How has everyone’s corals from the swap been doing?

Damn! That is what I thought. I had planned to make it to the swap, but my wife pulled a swap on me and I couldn't make it. Would love to get some at some point.

How has everyone’s corals from the swap been doing?

What is the big lettuce looking frag along the left side. Looks orange red to me but I am color blind. G

    Bangai’s bred in my tank!

They are the "small fry" in my tank. They tend to hide from the bigger fish and leave the smaller fish along. Thankfully, haven't seen any aggression to any non-bangai fish.

    Bangai’s bred in my tank!

Interested, but not sure when I will be in your area. I am coming from Concord/Clayton area. Maybe Tribitt is interested? If not, we'll see when I can make it out your way sometime. Gerry

    Bangai’s bred in my tank!

That looks more like a male to me, but I have limited experience. The jaw looks squarer on some of those views to me.

    Bangai’s bred in my tank!

Agreed. I purchased four captive bred fish that were probably 4 months old. They did not breed until they were over a year of age. Working with adults would be quicker. As to what got them to breed I don't know, but I would be more than happy to share my limited knowledge on this subject.

    Bangai’s bred in my tank!

Hahaha. I don't know if I have just been lucky, but given how easy this has all been I am surprised others have not been able to do this.

    Bangai’s bred in my tank!

Looks like a female to me. Very sharp pointy jaw. Maybe Tridbitt can pair it up with his male?

    Bangai’s bred in my tank!

I tried TDO in various sizes and flakes. So far no interest. They all just watch them slowly drift to the bottom. I have to be careful about overfeeding to avoid water quality issues. The two adults I have just recently started eating pellets, but I think this is because of the feeding frenzy...

    Bangai’s bred in my tank!

The males tend to have more of a square jaw line: https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Photograph-of-female-and-male-Banggai-cardinalfishes_fig2_251799898#:~:text=The%20only%20indication%20of%20the,is%20easily%20recognized.%20... The males have two little bumps behind their pectoral fins...

    Bangai’s bred in my tank!

Week 7 update: No pics today. Didn't have time before I left for work. Not much new this week. Still eating freshly hatched brine shrimp and frozen pods. I have seen the occasional fish eat one of the reef nutrition arti pods, but overall no major interest in any larger foods such as beta brine...

    Aptasia!

I agree with Tu. Unfortunately, JVU is no longer rearing the berghias locally, but these worked like a charm. It might be easier to take out your wrasse and predatory fish, or rehome them to allow the berghias time. Don't forget they need sump access to make sure they get them all.

    Goni Care

I currently have 8 different ones in my tank ranging in age from one month to two years. I lost two over the last year, but don't know why. They are all in different areas of the tank, different flows, different light. All have good polyp extension except for the malaysian rainbow that has not...

Lets see them full tank shot

This is just before sunset. During the day with white lights it does not look as good. Too much cyano in the sand bed.
