How long should it be bewteen ICH symptoms?

Thanks Norm, I know the routine, but I'm wondering if I have Ich at all. Like I said, it almost looks like it could have been just an over-reaction to microbubbles on the skin. So, I was wondering how long it should take before Isee symptoms on my fish in QT?

Quick Goby question before going shopping tomorrow :)

Oops, I don't know why I keep calling mine an engineer goby. I have a yellow watchman goby. You all got me worried for a minute there. BTW, he's insanely social. I see him all the time. BTW(2), If you want mine, he's all yours. I'm getting a new one tomorrow and I was thinking of trading...

Zoa Toxin might not be a myth. I have the eye to prove it.

Really? I should be careless more often. ;)

Zoa Toxin might not be a myth. I have the eye to prove it.

Got your attention, huh? Here's the 411: On Saturday I was cutting two small rocks apart that were joined by zoos when something squirted in my eye. I didn't imeadiately rinse it out but spent a few frantic moments searching online about the dreaded zoa toxin. I decided that I'd just rinse it...

Quick Goby question before going shopping tomorrow :)

Eh, I wouldn't worry. Mine (engineer) seems to like having a little 'beach' in front of his main burrow. I doubt he'd choose to be staring at a wall.

Well Sherri, I think I won by default. I'll still bet on it, but it hasn't been all that lucky for me 'yet'.

    Feeding my Rose Anemones

I can't speak to your particular shrimp but I'll bet, by salt, they really mean a brine solution. Saltwater is used in a lot of frozen meets because it helps maintain the tissue structure. That said, I wouldn't feed it to my anemone. Either go buy some fresh fish and cut/freeze yourself. Or...

Quick Goby question before going shopping tomorrow :)

Yes, the Diamond Watchman will build himself a little cave to hang out in as will many gobies. My engineer goby makes a series of burrows that he travels between during feeding but mainly hangs out in one. Well, I should say all this past tense since he's now in QT with his buddies and lives...

    Detritis in my refugeim

Throw in some brittle stars and maybe a few scavengers in the fuge and you should be good. I'd rather have that in place than worry about vacuuming my fuge every once in a while.

    Detritis in my refugeim

Leave it alone. Get a couple brittle stars and drop them in to keep it clean-ish. I doubt it is detritus, but more likely silt. Rocks do degrade over time and you get dust/dirt in the tank. The reason you don't see it in your tank is probably flow. That's just my $.02. If you are not...

Where to find 3 prong plug for Icecap Ballast

You can get some good high voltage plug combos at Fry's. I'd opt for one of these instead of the three prong setup if you want quick disconnect. If you don't need it, it is better to just splice it like Gresham suggested.

    Rock addition question

There are definitely some large sized pieces. If you want, you could take it all, piece some of it together and just weigh what you take. Like I said, the price is CHEAP but my friend would like to know how much he had and the only way to know that is to weigh it as he sells it.

    Rock addition question

Hey Bryan, I have a bunch of dry dead rock I'm selling for a friend (cheap! to BAR members who remember him when he returns and builds his reef again). You are welcome to come by Livermore and choose whatever you want. It is dry and should be bleached before use, but any rock you add should...

How long should it be bewteen ICH symptoms?

Hi All, You may have heard about my massive exodus of my fish to a QT tank because I feared ICH on my fish. In truth I wasn't complete 100% sure there was ICH, but could have been microbubbles on the skin. The fish in question never "scratched" on rocks or had any other symptoms but I wanted...

Color choice for acrylic for bottom of a glass tank

I think I'd go with white. I'm just envisioning what it will look like with some nice coraline algae on it. Black would be boring but white might be a nice contrast.

    Plumbing question: slip unions

George...Lowes has the BEST 1/2" PVC available...SCH200(IPS)! This is thinner walled and has almost the same interior volume of 3/4" SCH80. Get this and you'll be very happy.
