Need tips for zoas and red halymenia

Alk swing. Once I also had zoa pox also. Make sure to periodically blast polyps with a turkey baster. Sometimes they get algae film on them or tissue/gunk that aggravated them from opening. Similarly aiptasia can also bother them to keep the polyps closed.

Need tips for zoas and red halymenia

Maybe you had an all swing? Also, sometimes people change water in effort to address not changing water in a while. Just make sure you don't change TOO much water. Not could be the case that a tank low in calcium and alk can quickly be flipped to the other extreme of calcium and alk and make...

How do I find my old chains to update status?

I don't know our new forum system, but Denzil, hit me up of you need someone to code up the DBTC system. Or maybe I'll make a "web application" just for fun to track DBTC for reefers.

    Chaeto

Not sure where to put this.. so... Anyone need chaeto out in the east bay? I have at least two, maybe three zip lock bags full. Pick up in Walnut Creek. Any day this week except Thursday. Weekend possible also. On Thursday, during the day, I will be swinging through Berkeley and then into SF...

Felicia's 30 Gallon Seahorse Tank - Seahorses have arrived!!!

A while back I bought a yellow acropora cerealis. Are you planning to have SPS in the SH tank? Being dirty eaters and all...

Coral reefer’s 360 gal system. 225 display and frag tanks

Mike, I was thinking maybe Aquarium Concepts might have them. Since they sold the 500 gal tank they had in their store to an acquaintance's home in Mountain House. And figured since you were going to be near there, maybe that could easy to borrow from. As for other comment, glass shops have to...

Coral reefer’s 360 gal system. 225 display and frag tanks

Maybe you could borrow/rent a set from aquatic concepts? For glass shops carry them? You can find one local to Livermore, etc.

Something is up with my Monti...

Red planaria? Does it move and/or look like a flat translucent jelly-like "flatworm"?

    Zeroinverse seahorse tank

move to cooler area? We are considering moving eventually to Berkeley for our kids education... But more seriously, run LEDs, run one koralia (or maybe MP10) to minimize heat. Maybe run a thermoelectric chiller (or plumb in my 1/4" HP chiller. Anyother Ideas?

    Zeroinverse seahorse tank

Given the ideas thus far, I may still create a false wall, but a "holey cryptic refugium" on the bottom half. Then just have the "skimmer/filter/photosynthetic refugium be in the TOP half". The top half will be sealed while the bottom half will just be exposed to the display water. It is more...

    Zeroinverse seahorse tank

It might be a while before I fully set this up... That said, I found a great 48 gallon tall tank. 28" high, 18" wide, 16" deep. Interesting footprint and should make for great vertical space for seahorses. Hopefully it won't be TOO tall. Still debating on doing a false back wall for...

What's your most indespensible tool for tank cleaning ?

For those with glass tanks, check out the easyblade as I mentioned before. Best $15 you will spend! No need to reach into your tank to scrape algae.

    Nudibranch for Aptasia

Kalkwasser paste and a syringe (without the needle), or an eye dropper works in a pinch. Turn off all your pumps so there is no/minimal water movement. "feed the aiptasia" the paste. Let it sit in their tissue for 10-15 minutes, (or more)... Then turn on the pumps again. You'll get maybe 80%...

    Nudibranch for Aptasia

I was trying to breed them a while back, but it is a lot of work with minimal return. Hard to raise the babies to a decent juvenile size. And IN-TANK, it takes a while for them to reach critical mass (enough hatched eggs that mature before predation by zooplankton & shrimp). So good luck, but...

    ID this please :)

If it has a tail and swims in circular patterns... It is probably a saltwater mysid shrimp (a zooplankton). ---- I mean if it looks like a shrimp... Lots of things have tails and swim circular. ;P
