Progress!!! Soil on one side 2" of rock fence. Sand 1.5 so we'll still see the tops of the rocks. Sand goes in after planting. I am absolutely loving this, and to the person who suggested the lighten background? OMG I love it! Programmed sunrise, river for mid day, sunset and night. Ordered 1...

I will check this out after I reboot my computer--it's not playing any videos.... ugh I love a lot of the waterfalls, esp the sand ones that look like white water falling. So cool

Dream Tank 2 72g Freshwater Planted Tank

more progress. Got the cover over the power sockets so water can't get in and cause trouble. Background installed. Hubby made custom brackets to hold light upside down and pointing up. Once water is in the tank, it should reflect even better. Likeing it. Tank is in position. 6" from back and...

Dream Tank 2 72g Freshwater Planted Tank

Some progress. But the biggest news is I told my boss I wouldn't be back to work after my leave (father's death). So I will have all the time in the world to devote to this tank! Well, among other things lol's. Retiring with no shortage of things to do. Cleaned out half my office closet for...

    Neocaridina Shrimp Informational Thread!

I'll check out the lfs. Not as far as the one in San jose--brain blanked on name!! I'll also ck with you when I'm ready for shrimp. If they are young, I want them as one of the first in the tank in order to grow.. I have my stocking list split into 5 batches I think so shrimp, oto and betta are...

    Neocaridina Shrimp Informational Thread!

oh, let me know what you have. And how much etc. Where are you shipping them from? I'll ck out the lfs as well. I was going to order most of my fish online so I can get what I want and frankly, don't trust a lot of the local fish stores for healthy fish and I'm not going to quantine. My...

    Neocaridina Shrimp Informational Thread!

I figure they'll breed and increase? I can certainly add more. I also saw at the online place I was going to purchase a lot of my stuff (https://aquaticarts.com/) that they offer a mix of Neocaridina shrimp or a primary color pack of 3 colors. If they breed, will I end up with plain browns or...

thinking about adding 10 to a 72 gal. planted tank. Plan to add them first so they can reach adult size before fish are added

How difficult is planted compared to reef

I also think it depends on size of tank. I just sold my 220 reef tank because it was too much for me--physically and am starting a 72 gal planted tank. The fact that I can use a small step stool and touch the bottom of the tank is huge compared to a 5' ladder and still could barely touch...

Dream Tank 2 72g Freshwater Planted Tank

Made a list today of all I need to do before I order my plants. I'm hoping I can order by the 15th which means finding them all. My main place is out of stock of many so I may have to order from 2-4 places. I want all tissue cultured. No pests. Did some more landscaping after my morning writing...

Dream Tank 2 72g Freshwater Planted Tank

I saw this tank online and a carpet path looks nice as well. Could still do sand in front to hide the dark substrate and provide sand for bottom crew. Thoughts? alternate to sand sort of what I had in mind but cleaner planting. More open space for fish, not so dense

Dream Tank 2 72g Freshwater Planted Tank

Thanks. Good idea on sand path wider in front. I figure I'll give it a go, and if nature (haha) interferes, I'll let nature take its course and have an overgrown wilder tank. But doing my best to be sure there are no gaps in the stone fence and will plant heavy along path to help. Of course...

Dream Tank 2 72g Freshwater Planted Tank

I can make my "wall" 2" tall and just have the top of the rock show. . I'm going to glue my "fence" in sections and make sure there are no holes in bottom for soil to get thru. Hopefully the carpeting plants will hold the soil along the path. Using 2-3 different ones.

Dream Tank 2 72g Freshwater Planted Tank

I will research further! Thanks. How aggressive would a pair of dwarf cichlids be and would all cichlids be a problem with shrimp?
